Musical work by Grupo Taller de Punta Arenas tells the story of Magellan
For you Magallanes from the Heart, far from your land... you will surely be moved to tears by this Great Musical Work...
Alturas Workshop - SONG TO MAGELLAN
El Canto a Magallanes is a historical musical work that narrates some of the main events in the history of Magallanes. It premiered under the auspices of the Technical University of the State on November 19, 1976 at the Municipal Theater of Punta Arenas, after which it was presented in various venues, including the Municipal Theater of Santiago. Since then, the work - and in particular its Prayer for Magallanes - are recognized as emblems and part of the cultural heritage of the region.

The author of the work is Fernando Ferrer Fernández (RIP), its composers and co-authors are José Palma and Miguel Palma, both founders of the Grupo Taller Alturas, a current group with a recognized track record in the area. The Grupo Taller Alturas accepted the challenge proposed by the GeoPark company to re-edit and stage this emblematic work again.
